Mending ties with Israel key for regional peace, Turkish opposition says

Repairing ties between Turkey and Israel would constitute a crucial contribution to regional peace, officials from the former's main opposition party have suggested. 
"The relations between Turkey and Israel are not only important for the two countries, but also for regional peace. 
Good relations with Israel and other [Middle Eastern] parties will allow us to play the role we have played in the past," deputy leader of the Republican People's Party, or CHP, Osman Korutürk said recently at a conference organized by the Center for Strategic and International Studies, or CSIS, a think tank based in Washington.
